Opening Day by Herb Tannenbaum

It was a majestic day in the Bronx on Monday as the Yankees opened their 2013 season.  The field was in wonderful shape and the sun light was bright at this cathedral of baseball.  The Yankees did a tasteful job of honoring the victims of the Newtown tragedy and all of the sell out crowd stood silently as the list of victims scrolled down the score board.

The game itself was not as exciting as one would have hoped and the weather turn grey and cold as the Yankees lost control of the game.

At the end of the day there is nothing more exciting than Opening Day at Yankee Stadium.  The only thing that could have made it sweeter would have been a Yankee victory
